Amtrak Just Discounted a Popular Route With $30 Roundtrip Tickets — and We Have the Promo Code

Amtrak is celebrating a special milestone with big savings for passengers. 

The train service’s Downeaster line, which operates five times a day from Brunswick, Maine to Boston, Massachusetts, recently achieved ten million riders on the line. In recognition of the achievement, Amtrak is offering special $30 round-trip fares on the line when travelers enter the promotional code V232 during the booking process. 

“This is our best deal of the year and marks our biggest ridership achievement,” Amtrak shares about the promotion. “From our first rider to welcoming over 10 million passengers, we sincerely thank you for choosing the Amtrak Downeaster.”

The discount only applies to bookings made at least three days in advance, and cannot be combined with any discounts. The sale ends on Jan. 28, and is valid on tickets for service through Jan. 31.

The service stops at popular Northeast towns including Freeport, Portland, Dover, and more. The Boston station is located near the TD Garden Arena, which makes it a popular option for sports fans and concert attendees. 

Throughout Amtrak’s Downeaster line are several hotels that have been spotlighted by Travel + Leisure, including Encore Boston Harbor and The Liberty, both in Boston. Portland, Maine, which was previously awarded the title as the ‘coziest city in the United States during the fall’ features 

Onboard, travelers can enjoy the Downeaster Café which sells a variety of food and beverage options, and even sells Boston subway tickets onboard to help travelers save time before arriving in the city. The train also features free Wi-Fi internet, and business class service for an additional fee. 

While the $30 round-trip fare sale is only available for a limited time, travelers can keep an eye out for future deals and promotions, and the train offers year-round student discount pricing.
