If a trip to Europe for Valentine’s Day weekend or spring break sounds like a good idea, American Airlines has just brought back some of its lowest fares to dozens of destinations for a limited time.
Although the sale doesn’t end until Tue. Jan 28, these deals are only available on a first-come, first-served basis — no promo code required. The travel dates will vary depending on the final destination, but most of these American Airlines tickets can be booked from now until May 2025.
In addition, the discounted fares are only valid for certain days of the week — flights from the U.S. to Europe must depart on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Sundays, while return flights are available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
Travel + Leisure searched through the list and found the best round-trip deals to Europe, which can originate from any city in the 48 contiguous U.S. states:
- Boston (BOS) to/from Dublin (DUB): $466
- Miami (MIA) to/from Madrid (MAD): $480
- Chicago (ORD) to/from Lisbon (LIS): $496
- Los Angeles (LAX) to/from Stockholm (ARN): $506
- Philadelphia (PHL) to/from Zurich (ZRH): $524
- Dallas (DFW) to/from Rome (FCO): $527
- New York (JFK) to/from Athens (ATH): $541
As a Oneworld alliance carrier, the airline offers codeshare services on Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia, and Finnair to extend its route network in Europe. For instance, a traveler departing from Boston (BOS) could fly to London (LHR) on American Airlines and then transit to Barcelona (BCN) on a partner carrier, all on one ticket.
The sale fares are available in basic economy, though passengers are allowed to bring one personal item and one carry-on bag onboard. However, seat assignments won’t be given until they check in 24 hours before departure, and there are typically pricey cancellation fees associated with basic economy fares.
